SDI Creates Fire Rated Doors and Frames Overview

September 11, 2013, WESTLAKE, Ohio ― The Steel Door Institute (SDI) has published a primer for architects and specifiers on fire-rated terminology, the components of a fire rated opening, and much more.

The 25-slide tutorial, available on the SDI website, covers:

  • Nomenclature and Overview (important terms and requirements)
  • SDI 118, the SDI standard for fire rating of steel doors and frames
  • Fire Rated Frames, Doors, and Hardware
  • Specialty Products such as windstorm and bullet resistant
