SDI’s Online Course Now Provides AIA GCBI Hour

March 26, 2013 WESTLAKE, Ohio ― The Steel Door Institute-sponsored course Steel: Green Now, Green Forever now offers one American Institute of Architects (AIA) Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) hour. The AIA reviewed the course content and concluded that it met the GBCI’s green building practice and performance standards. Therefore, professionals can earn one GBCI or Health, Safety and Welfare Design (HSW) hour.

Steel: Green Now, Green Forever is an online course that takes approximately 60 minutes to complete. It covers the recyclability of steel, construction products made from recycled steel, features of steel doors and frames, and the available LEED credits available when building with steel.

Jeff Wherry, Managing Director of SDI, said, “Steel: Green Now, Green Forever has been completed by more than 1,100 architects since its inception in December 2011. The course’s quality content is affirmed by its popularity and approval for the GBCI hour. The Steel Door Institute will continue to educate architects on the environmentally-friendly qualities of steel, and believe that is one of its key advantages over alternate building materials.”

Steel: Green Now, Green Forever is available for free online as AIA Course number GSD08A. It can be viewed here.
