SDI Films Video on Fire Rated Doors

February 27 FONTANA, California – The Steel Door Institute (SDI) has released its first video, which is about the manufacturing and testing of fire rated doors.

Filming took place at the Door Components facility in Fontana, CA. Door Components is one of 11 hollow metal door manufacturers who are SDI members. The video offers an inside look at the facility, information about various door cores, how doors are manufactured, and actual fire test footage.

Jeff Wherry, Managing Director of SDI, said, “We’re happy to present the Steel Door Institute’s first video. Fire rated doors are an important part of this industry. We think architects and specifiers will enjoy seeing what goes on behind the scenes in manufacturing and testing these products.”

SDI, which prepares and publishes standards for steel doors and frames, provides code requirements for the design and use of fire doors in its publication SDI-118.
