SDI Committees Maintain the Highest Standards

Steel Door Institute members serve on the following standing committees, which are intended to serve the interests of member companies, the steel door industry, and professionals in the construction fields.

SDI Technical Committee

The most active of all SDI committees, the Technical Committee conducts product testing and provides the construction industry with technical publications containing the latest standardized specifications for steel doors and frames. Specifications include standardized hardware locations and preparations, building code improvements; and establishment of performance specifications for steel doors and frames.

Members of the Technical Committee meet regularly with organizations representing related products such as the Door & Hardware Institute, Construction Specifications Institute, and many others. The Technical Committee also works with code groups and government agencies to assure maximum safety, security and quality performance of all SDI member products.

SDI Marketing Committee

The purpose of the Marketing Committee is to promote member companies' products to the architectural and construction industries. The Marketing Committee has produced a series of videotapes to educate professionals and promote the industry. Videotapes are available upon request.
